Promotion Support

Many different organizations and groups are involved in a wide range of design promotion activities. JIDPO functions as a guide to these varied activities and provides support from the angles of information and know-how in connection with campaigns aimed at tackling contemporary topics in the field of design and activities that stretch over a variety of specialized design-related areas.

*JIDPO support and cooperation, projects commemorating "Design Day"

JIDPO provides support and offers its name in connection with design promotion projects that fulfill certain conditions (e.g. the contemporaneity of the topics handled, the scale of the event, the clarity of the organizers). As well as providing support and cooperation in connection with information and know-how, JIDPO is also involved in PR activities through its publications, mail magazine, and website.

*Registration of "Design Day" Commemorative Projects

"Design Day" was instituted to commemorate the results of the 1989 Design Year, and it is now officially recognized as a day intended to commemorate this event by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. "Design Day" activities involve a variety of mutually enhancing events centering on the actual "Design Day" on October 1. Provision by JIDPO of the organization's support and cooperation and registration of a particularly project as a "Design Day Commemorative Project" are sure to increase awareness of the project in question and to be effective in advertising it. We hope you will wish to make use of this facility.

*Examples of support activities

1.Japan Design Business Cooperative Body
The Japan Union of Design Enterprises is an economic organization founded in 1999 by design enterprises from all over Japan. Its main purposes are to provide an interface between the design industry and other industries and to raise the status of the industry as a whole. JIDPO assisted with the establishment of this organization from the standpoint of the promotion of the design industry and design business. JIDPO is working together with the union on establishing rules for design business, developing new business models, disseminating and upgrading intellectual property rights in order to protect the rights of designers and to create a wider distribution for the results of design, and other activities with a strongly publicly oriented character.

2."World Good Design"
The aim of this body is specifically to provide information on design awards all over the world. The organization was set up by Motoo Nakanishi, who had been director of the Good Design Awards adjudicatory committee for three years since 1998, and JIDPO provided its support with this project from the outset. Centering on the provision of information, it is hoped that this organization will play an effective infrastructural role in promoting design business.

3.Japan Design Net
This is Japan's largest design-related website. It's managed by Tanseisha, a company active in planning and executing exhibitions and events. JIDPO is working on extending the range of information exchange it engages in with this website.

4.Tetsuson
This is an independent and comprehensive organization of students studying at design colleges throughout Japan. It has developed to the extent that last year it was able to hold a large-scale exhibition of the work of graduates of design colleges. JIDPO is providing this organization with support by making conference venues and servers available free of charge and by obtaining intellectual property rights.
