*Establishment of the "International Design liaison center" - international base for linkage with academic institution
Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization moves the activity base to "Tokyo Midtown (complex to be constructed on the former Defense Agency site)" next spring. Along with this, our roll of creating "Design of the 21st century" will be enhanced. As a part of this effort, we will establish the "International Design liaison center" with support from Mitsui Fudosan -the developer of the "Tokyo Midtown".
This "International Design liaison center" will be a base for linkage between foreign academic institutions that receives high acclaim internationally, industries of Japan, and designers.
This center will create design and designers of the new era not only by individual reserach, design lectures and seminars but also cooperating each other.
Design practice in Japan might have weekness in making theory as a methodology and make the best use of it for personnel training. Moreover, education that relates management and design for practical management is hardly done in Japan. The design education in multiple languages and countries seems to be more effective when thinking on the assumption of internationalization of design activity.
"International Design liaison center" is expected to play a major role in solving these problems in Japan.
